(1/18) 3 Ways to Support Employees with a Mental Illness

Creating a culture where employees feel valued as individuals and comfortable asking for help when they need it is key to supporting employees with a mental illness such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or bipolar disorder. Work on ensuring that your culture values the inclusion of all types of disabilities. Educate leadership and staff early and often about issues such as mental health awareness, managing accommodations, performance management, and mental health first aid. Provide employees who have mental illness with clear, concise communication that sets a foundation for their success. Schedule feedback sessions that focus on the individual employee and enable you to identify and correct performance issues early. Read the full article.
