(6/11) Study: Employers Still Fail to Prioritize Candidates with Disabilities in Talent Strategies

A new survey suggests that employers still aren’t reaching out to and connecting with the 20 million people with disabilities who are seeking work. Most respondents (98%) said they publicly promote diversity, but only 76% said they specifically promote diversity for people with disabilities. When hiring on college campuses, only about half said they focus on recruiting students with disabilities. Hiring experts suggest five steps for improving connections with people who have disabilities: prioritize accessibility, rethink how jobs might be done differently by someone with a disability, represent all employees in marketing campaigns, encourage people with disabilities to share their experiences, and create a culture of learning for both employees with disabilities and their supervisors.
