Paid parental leave for new moms and dads is gaining attention and support throughout the world. As more organizations get on board, they are implementing creative ways to support their employees. Among them:
- Staying connected to employees on leave. They schedule times to touch base; and they identify opportunities for workers on leave to keep up with training opportunities and connect with their colleagues.
- Addressing “maternity bias.” Moms on leave often worry that their careers will suffer because of their time away from work. Many employers are creating a supportive environment with standard practices for workers’ return to work that help eliminate fears and anxieties.
- Including parents on leave (and their children) in company events such as parties and picnics.
