By Joanne Kaldy / September 9, 2021

At the same time, many are using the changing job market as a chance to retrain, upskill, or reinvent themselves.

  • Scheduling regular check-in conversations. Be as upfront as possible and encourage an open dialogue.
  • Show care and compassion. Watch and listen for signs that an employee may be having a hard time. Promote a work/life balance that gives employees time to recharge and energize.
  • Show appreciation for employees and colleagues. Days off, flexible schedules, gift cards, transportation assistance, childcare support, and even an encouraging note can go a long way toward showing employees that they are respected and appreciated.
  • Be flexible about career paths. More than ever, workers are seeking to move up the career ladder and take on new roles. You can keep them if you help them follow that path internally.
