(9/25) Bringing a Hygge Culture to Your Workforce

Hygge (pronounced who-ga), the Danish concept of comfort and togetherness, is finding its way into the workplace. Could it be part of your organizational brand? Consider these elements of Hygge:

  • A delegating mindset and a high level of trust in employees.
  • Unlimited paid time off. The idea is that employees come back refreshed and ready to work when they are able to take time off when they need it. (In Demark, workers get/take an average of five weeks off.)
  • Communal lunch, with the meal often prepared and paid for by the company.
  • Free healthcare, removing any stressors that healthcare needs might cause.
