Artificial intelligence applicant tracking systems are supposed to cut the work, but one major U.S. company discovered they also were cutting valid candidates. In 2014, e-commerce giant Amazon began experimenting with its own software to streamline the process of sorting through piles of applicant resumes. The program had built-in artificial intelligence to look for the skills the company valued and then rank applicants with one to five stars. “Everyone wanted this holy grail,” an unnamed source at Amazon told Reuters. “They literally wanted it to be an engine where I’m going to give you 100 resumes, it will spit out the top five, and we’ll hire those.” But recently, Amazon’s tech gurus discovered a problem: The system seemed to be docking applicants for being female. … [Read more...] about Why Your ATS System isn’t the Holy Grail

Execs and Employees Disagree on Status of Technology at Work, PwC Study Says
There’s a big disconnect between what drives executive technology decisions and how employees experience that technology on the job. The C-suite often sees things differently from other employees, especially when it comes to the way employees experience workplace technology, notes the latest PwC Consumer Intelligence Series report, “Our Status with Tech at Work: It’s Complicated.” While 90% of executives believe they base technology decisions on the needs of their workforces, only about half (53%) of workers say the same, states the report, which surveyed more than 12,200 full-time employees. … [Read more...] about Execs and Employees Disagree on Status of Technology at Work, PwC Study Says

The electronic submission of PBJ data is now required, including all data on staff ratios and RN-specific hours, for which there is a federal minimum of eight hours. The PBJ software must be updated immediately upon every new hire or termination, and the database must be kept current for all staff credentials and certifications. In April 2018, in anticipation of the switch to all-PBJ reporting of staffing data, CMS [Read more...] about PBJ and Your Staff
